Meet Stephanie
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I am an architect. Love to draw, play the piano, travel, and just explore world around me. I am inspired by my kids and watching them grow and develop their interests, love of music and dance. I am always inspired by my parents, both teachers, who are brave and committed to bettering the world and making a difference in people's lives. In my work, I strive the do the same. Architecture is a way to shape the world, which makes it exciting.
List six positive aspects about yourself.

Please share a story with us that relates in any way to this movement.
Last year I went through breast cancer. Though it was early stage, I still needed to go through chemotherapy and radiation. It was difficult, but I decided to continue working and trying to keep as normal a life as possible. To stay positive and remember the process, I decided to create a self portrait journal of the year. I had very long hair, and the prospect of losing it was daunting, Each week during chemotherapy I drew myself, sometimes with a head covering and sometimes not. The process made me look closely at myself as I went through treatment, rather than turning away. With less work stress in my life ( I reduced my workload), I was able to focus on me and the changes that were happening. Knowing that it was temporary was key, and creating the drawing documented that fact well. Looking back on the images, I see myself at each stage, from the downside and back up. I felt like I turned a negative moment into a positive experience and gained a better appreciation and self image in the process... Who I am did not depend on certain aspects of myself, and I learned they did not define me.
Why do you want to be a part of she.?
The idea of encouraging and promoting positive self image for women is fantastic and I and excited to be a part of this. We are all beautiful and to creative s platform to share that idea is inspiring and daring.
Stephanie was willing to share her sketches with us. They are shown in order of when she did them. We think this was a beautiful way for her to document her journey in a creative way.

It worked out nicely that our she. shoots were scheduled the same weekend Stephanie's mom was in town. We LOVE when multiple generations of women get together! Beautiful.
